My baby turns 5 today.

Today is sort of a sad day for me. My baby, actually my oldest, turns 5 today. Zander is such an amazing boy. He is a total ball of energy every single day. From the moment his feet hit the floor in the mornings until the moment his head hits the pillow every single night he's on the go. He's always trying something new, and is rarely afraid. Saturday he had his birthday party and he decided that was the day he would take the training wheels off his bike. Again, he wasn't afraid in the least. He wouldn't even let his daddy help him. He took off and was able to ride on 2 wheels before we knew it.

He was born on July 13, 2004 at 6:20PM. He weighed 6lbs 11oz and was 18 6/7 inches long. Now he weighs about 40lbs and is about 46 or so inches tall. The night he was born he had some breathing difficulty and was placed under oxygen. He was a fighter that night and continues to be a fighter every day. He was diagnosed with Goldenhar syndrome when he was about 2 months old and had the skin tags removed from his face on his 13 month birthday. There aren't any remnants of the Goldenhar syndrome other than a small lip paralysis on his lower right lip. You can only notice that when he smiles. He has been the light of my life every single day of my life.

Most days I'm ready to pull my hair out with frustration but he's my baby and always will be. In January he started Pre-K. We were concerned with how he would adjust to the structure and having to actually listen to a teacher. His ADHD and ODD didn't proobe to be much of an issue for his saintly teacher Michelle St. Clair. He did amazing and loved going to school. He can't wait to start Kindergarten in September. Like I said he is always eager to try something new. I still can't seem to wrap my mind around the fact that my baby turned 5 years old today. He's charming, smart, quick witted, outgoing, and the light of my life. So... Happy Birthday baby boy, its amazing how fast the time has flown, thank you for every single memory we've had together but most importantly thank you for loving me unconditionally. I love you son and I'm so proud of you.
